Biography:

A two-year member of the UCLA softball program in 2008 and 2009, Kamekona had a stellar career in Los Angeles as she earned a pair of NFCA Third-Team All-America selections. After joining the Bruins following two years at Cal State Fullerton, the native of Chino Hills, Calif. helped lead the team to a 96-20 overall record, a Women’s College World Series appearance and a pair of NCAA Super Regionals.

In her first season with UCLA, one of the best teams in the nation and a perennial national title contender, Kamekona led the team in nearly every major offensive category including homeruns (14), RBIs (46), runs (47), doubles (17) and slugging percentage (.663). She helped lead the team to a 51-9 record and a berth in the 2008 Women’s College World Series. Following that season, she earned the first of her All-America selections and was an NFCA All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-10 choice.

As a senior Kamekona started all 56 games during the Bruins 45-11 campaign and recorded nine homeruns, 40 RBIs, a .557 slugging percentage and was 12-of-13 in stolen bases. She led the team with 19 doubles and her RBI total was second on the club as was her 61 hits. That season Kamekona was named NFCA Third-Team All-America, Easton Second-Team All-America NFCA All-West Region and First-Team All-Pac-10.

Also listed among her achievements with UCLA is a program-record eight RBI performance that earned her USA Softball, NFCA and Pac-10 Player of the Week honors in 2008. For her career, she ranks fourth all-time in slugging percentage at UCLA and her 19 doubles as a senior is the second most in program history.

Prior to joining the Bruins she played two seasons for Cal State Fullerton where she started all but five games and earned a spot on the All-Big West First-Team as a sophomore.

Kamekona has played professionally as a member of the PFX Tour and has also honed her coaching skills as a Summer Camp Counselor and Instructor at UCLA and as a private skills instructor for the past five and six years, respectively. She has most recently served as a volunteer assistant coach at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. and has also been the Regional Brand Manager for XPro Tex in Valencia, Calif.
